The artist

Hi, I'm Thaïs

My journey begins in Costa da Caparica, Portugal. That's where the work signed « Mathis » was born — it's a name, but also the expression of my feelings. Drawing is a way of explaining the vibe present around us.

I start by sketching by hand. I prefer to keep things simple and honest. Each piece is drawn with a retro soul, sun-washed, echoing the 70s and grounded in the now.

These illustrations are postcards of a life lived slowly — meant to hang on your wall, sit on your mug, slip into your day like a deep breath.

The promise

"Every line is drawn by hand. No AI, no stock, no shortcut."

From sketch to wall

The process

Step 01

Walk & sketch

Most pieces start on a walk — cliff path, harbour, beach — with a sketchbook.

Step 02

Hand draw

Back in the studio. Lines are kept geometric, palettes restrained, sun-washed.

Step 03

Prepare for print

The original drawing is then scanned and prepared for fine-art reproduction.

Step 04

Premium printing

Printed on heavyweight matte paper, three sizes, available framed too.

The Portuguese coast on your wall is the same one I walk every morning.

Where it's drawn

Costa da Caparica, Portugal

A 30-kilometre stretch of Atlantic beach south of Lisbon. Fishermen still bring in the catch at dawn. Surfers chase barrels at sunset. In between, life moves slowly.

The studio sits a few streets back from the beach. The light here is the reason most of the pieces feel the way they do.
